We arrived in Singapore just in time for the F1 weekend. With JMo, Libby, Dan and Vicky attending the weekend race, everyone else enjoyed the clean streets and walking on pavements not covered by scooters (a real treat!) and days spent at the zoo and drinking cocktails at Raffles and enjoying the sights and sounds of this wonderful city.

A great time was had by all, and with our wallets having taken a pounding we said our farewells and headed to the ferry port for the hour journey to Batam, Indonesia, our penultimate country on the UK to Oz adventure. There's not a lot going on here but with the economy meal on the boat to Jakarta being plain boiled rice and a small fish for EVERY meal we headed to the supermarket for provisions to last us the entire 26+ hour journey.

Two days in the bustling city of Jakarta was followed by a much more laid back visit to Yogyakarta, the home of the 1200 year old Borobodur Temple complex, Indonesias equivalent to Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

While most of the group chose to take a side trip to Mt Bromo from Yogyakarta the remainder of the group took the bus directly to Bali.  The 24 hour journey may have been arduous, with positively arctic air conditioning all night long, but this was soon forgotten once we arrived and hit the beach in Kuta.  Four nights to rest, relax, shop and surf.  What a lovely way to end the Asia section of the trip :-)

Now it is time to say our farewells to Indonesia as we head towards Australia, so until the next time!
